Location & surroundings
Where is Le Mas des Bardes located?
Le Mas des Bardes is set in the countryside in Provence, in a peaceful and natural environment, close to typical villages, Provençal markets and many tourist sites (Avignon, the Luberon, Mont Ventoux, L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, Carpentras).
Is the gîte close to shops and restaurants?
Yes, local shops, restaurants and markets are just a few minutes away by car. We also provide recommended addresses to help you discover the local gastronomy. One week before your arrival, a comprehensive digital guide (available in 10 languages) including our best recommendations, tourist attractions and current events will be sent to you. If you prefer a printed version, a paper guide is available on site in your gîte (French, English and German).
The gîte & facilities
How many guests can be accommodated?
Each gîte can accommodate 2 guests (160 cm queen-size bed). The Luberon gîte can occasionally accommodate up to 4 guests on request (1 queen-size bed + 140 cm double sofa bed + baby cot available on request). Please note that it is a studio: all guests sleep in the same room and share the same bathroom. In this case, a supplement of €15 per additional adult per day applies from the third person onwards.
Does the gîte have a swimming pool and garden?
Yes, Le Mas des Bardes has a swimming pool accessible to guests, shared between the 3 gîtes and the owners, ideal for cooling off during the Provençal summer. A tree-lined garden with dedicated sun loungers for each gîte allows you to enjoy the outdoors, whether in the sunshine or the shade.
Does the gîte have a terrace, garden furniture or a barbecue?
Each gîte is on one level and has its own outdoor area with garden furniture (table, chairs, parasol). Dedicated sun loungers are available around the pool.
The Ventoux gîte has a large covered terrace of over 20 m² with an outdoor sofa, deckchairs and a plancha grill.
The Luberon and Alpilles gîtes share an additional covered terrace with sofas, tables and chairs, a reading area with tourist leaflets and a plancha grill.
Is the accommodation air-conditioned?
Yes, all gîtes are equipped with air conditioning to ensure optimal comfort during hot weather.
Is bed linen provided?
Yes, bed linen and towels are provided. Towels can be changed every 4 days on request and bed linen once a week. Beds are made up on arrival. In summer, pool towels are provided; in winter, throws are available.
Is Wi-Fi available?
Yes, free Wi-Fi is available in each gîte.
How is the kitchen equipped?
The kitchen includes a refrigerator, two hotplates, microwave, toaster, kettle, two coffee machines (Nespresso-type capsule machine and filter coffee machine), crockery and cooking utensils.
A freezer with one drawer per gîte is available in the shared laundry room. Not having a freezer in the studios avoids additional noise and heat from the compressor.
What type of coffee machine is provided?
There are two types of coffee machines: Nespresso-type capsule machine and traditional filter coffee machine. Capsules (Starbucks), ground coffee and filters are provided, as well as tea and sugar cubes.
Do you offer breakfast, meals or local products for sale?
We do not offer a breakfast service. Each gîte is fully equipped to prepare breakfast (coffee maker, toaster, kettle, etc.). Coffee, tea, filters and sugar are provided. We will direct you to nearby bakeries.
Local products (jam, biscuits, ready-made dishes, wine, beer, etc.) are available for purchase. In season, we organise a weekly table d’hôte dinner prepared with local, seasonal produce — a convivial moment shared between hosts and guests.
Is there a washing machine, iron and ironing board?
A shared laundry room with washing machine, detergent, drying rack, iron and ironing board is available for guests.
Access & parking
Are the gîtes on one level? Are there steps? Are they suitable for guests with reduced mobility?
All three gîtes are on one level. The Ventoux gîte has no steps, the Alpilles gîte has one step and the Luberon gîte has two steps.
They are accessible for guests with reduced mobility using a walking stick or crutches, but unfortunately not suitable for wheelchair users (gravel paths and door widths).
Is there parking on site? Is it secure?
Yes, free parking is available directly on the enclosed property, with a gate accessible only to our guests. Each gîte has its own dedicated parking space.
Is the accommodation accessible without a car?
A car is strongly recommended to fully enjoy the region, surrounding villages and tourist sites. Alternatively, a bicycle is essential. Two standard bicycles are available for guest use.
Can guests arrive by bicycle? Is secure storage available?
For cyclists, we provide a locked garage for storing bicycles, with charging facilities for electric bikes, a basic repair kit and cleaning equipment (hose and brush).
Le Mas des Bardes is part of the national “Accueil Vélo” network, dedicated to welcoming cycling travellers. Ideally located for cycling routes, we can advise you on itineraries and provide extensive documentation. We can also connect you with local bike hire, repair and transport services from our network.
Children, pets & house rules
Is the gîte suitable for couples or families?
Le Mas des Bardes is ideal for couples (romantic setting). It is not suitable for young children (except non-walking babies): the swimming pool is not adapted and there is a nearby watercourse.
Are pets allowed?
Only the Ventoux gîte can accommodate pets on request. It is located next to a large unfenced meadow where pets can roam away from the other two gîtes.
Are parties or events allowed?
No, parties and events are not permitted in order to preserve peace and respect for neighbours.
Is the accommodation non-smoking?
Yes, the gîtes are non-smoking. Smoking is permitted only in outdoor areas (garden, private terrace and shared covered terrace).
